This 2002 thriller staring Stephen Dorff (Blade) and Natascha McElhone (The Truman Show) calls back to the earlier days of the Internet when over-curious readers could get caught up in a web that might literally kill them. Dorff stars as a NYPD homicide detective investigating a rash of ominously similar deaths, tracing them back to a website searched by all the victims: FearDotCom. When several of the investigators begin to experience strange hallucinations, several die within 48 hours of visiting the site, presumably from their very worst fears. Tension builds as the supernatural roots of the life-ending website are connected to the long-deceased victims of a vicious serial killer, Alistair “The Doctor” Pratt (Stephen Rea).
