Caroline Thompson has written ten produced screenplays, four of which she also directed. Her credits include "EDWARD SCISSORHANDS," " THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS," " THE SECRET GARDEN," " BLACK BEAUTY," "TIM BURTON'S CORPSE BRIDE," and the upcoming "CITY OF EMBER." She and her husband, Steve Nicolaides, have recently founded a film distribution website, SMALL & CREEPY FILMS where, among the blogs and shorts and the made-for-the-site series "THE DREAM MACHINE," dvds of "THE HILLS ARE ALIVE" can be found.

About the making of "THE HILLS ARE ALIVE," she would like to say how weird it was having the fifteen-member crew of mostly twenty-year-olds living on her ranch for the better part of a month during the prep and the shoot. Also how relieved she is that during all that time no one got poison oak, bitten by a rattlesnake or attacked by the bear who liked to come sniffing at the porch where they ate supper. If she ever felt she missed out on something not having children, that month cured her.
